Frances over at Unyielding tagged me to list 6 things that are strange about me. This is the first time I have ever gotten "tagged"....hmmm....six weird things about me....hmmmm....maybe I need to call Grant and ask him to help me! (or DARCY...your kids think EVERYTHING is weird about you!)....hmmm....
1) I prefer writing letters to talking on the phone. I love to write...it is very clarifying and stress reducing for me. I just love written words flowing out onto a sheet of paper (or, these days!, neatly clicking across my computer screen).
2) Given my druthers, I would stay up all night and sleep all day. Guess that is a little bit odd...or at least different. Though it is the norm in China (to stay up all of OUR night and sleep during OUR day, that is! And, seein's how China's population DWARFS our population, I guess, actually, what is odd is to be SLEEPING during our night and staying AWAKE during our daylight hours...don't you think?)
3) Boy...this is really HARD. I coming up pretty blank here! I am sure I am an exceedingly weird soul, but, for the life of me, I can't think of any particular examples! Looking back to life before I married Grant, I was a lot weirder...something I remember from then that the very thought of completely appalls me now, but which seemed quite reasonable back then, is that I used to spray flea spray on my nightgown each night! (I had two large, indoor dogs who slept on my bed...and, even though I kept them well treated for fleas, there were always some hanging out in our yard ready to jump on them and ride back into the house after their last potty break for the night.) Oh, Grant....aren't you glad you never knew that about me until now!
4) Wow....this really is hard! I am going to quit here and go call Grant. I am sure he will have some insight into this matter!
Okay...Grant says (and this will be number 4) that I am obsessed with blankets. (I wouldn't characterize it as "obsessed"! I LIKE blankets...and I do like having those little throw blankets to wrap up in. I have quite a few of them because the kids always want to borrow them while I am using them...thus, I have two down throws and four or so fuzzy throws. I DO like blankets...small ones, big ones, thick ones, thin ones...they are awfully nice to wrap up in when I am chilly...which is most of the time! ESPECIALLY SINCE MY HUSBAND INSISTS ON HAVING OUR BEDROOM CEILING FAN ON ALL THE TIME...A VERITABLE BEDROOM BLIZZARD! Grant accuses me of liking to have our bedcovers all in a "wad". That isn't true. I have nothing against a neatly made bed...it is just that if I wrap up burrito style in the covers, I am so much WARMER!
5) Grant says I use weird sayings. I don't think "slow as Moses" or "Hurts like sixty" are unique. Lots of people use such phrases...it isn't like I just make them up!
6) Grant dreads the way I get engrossed in books. I don't read very many books...but, when I start one, I don't like ANYTHING interrupting me until I have completely digested the book from cover to cover. I LOVE to read...so, that seems like the perfect vacation activity to me...but Grant always thinks it is crazy that I bury my nose in a book and, according to him, am totally oblivious to the scenery and every moment of our vacation while I am in the midst of my book. And, like I said, I do not like to be interrupted...once I begin a book, I want to read non-stop from beginning to end. And I am a slow reader. I will go back and re-read entire paragraphs or pages just to fix the characters and/or ideas firmly in my mind.
7) Grant says the fact that I won't eat a banana without slathering peanut butter all over it is strange. Actually, NOT eating peanut butter on the banana is strange...we have five members in our family....four of us like bananas...only three of us ever EAT bananas (can't remember the last time I saw GRANT eat a banana, even though he likes them alright)....of the three of us who eat bananas, I am the most flexible. I WILL eat a banana without peanut butter once in a while...but Doug and Rayna act like it is the end of the world if I don't let them have peanut butter on their bananas....so...let's examine the facts....three people in our family actually EAT bananas and all three of them prefer them with peanut butter....hmmmm....sounds like peanut butter on bananas is the norm, not the exception!
8) Thought of one more...friends and relatives have occasionally commented it is weird how many photos I take. I took around 11,000 photos during a two week vacation last summer. That probably is a little excessive.
Hey, what do you know! I got two extra points listed!
Uh-oh...Darcy is back home now, and she has her own ideas about what is weird about her Mom:
1) "You could be a vegetarian--now THAT is FREAKY!" (Darcy detests vegetables.)
2) "You don't like cooking."
3) "You are forever thinking you need to be on a diet." (Hmmm...I notice she didn't say I am forever ON a diet.)
4) "You don't like Walker Texas Ranger." (Yes...I guess that would make me weird in this house!)
5) "It is FREAKY that you could live on chocolate and ice cream!" (Aha...THAT'S why I'm not ON a diet!)
6) "You don't like video games...that is WEIRD."

I think my dear sis-in-law may be confused about the concept of day and night-day is when the sun is out where you are!(our 'day' is not the same time as China's 'day')
and what is it with bananas and peanut butter? bananas and chocolate i could understand!
Okay, Jan...I guess it is that I am weird in this country because my circadian rythm is out of sync with the sun...however, each time we have been in China, I haven't had a bit of trouble staying up all day and sleeping all night...
I guess that means my circadian rhytm is about fourteen hours ahead of Missouri!
Val....I had a blast reading your list! Promisekeeper's Daughter I didn't see a list on your blog yet...so, I will check back again tomorrow!
Thanks for tagging me. I just adore memes, and will definitely try to come up with six strange things about myself. I KNOW I'm strange, but it's really a hard challenge!
Strange is in the eye of the beholder (tee-hee!). I posted my list on my family blog but also linked to it from my designs one. Now I've got to go do some tagging!
My weird list is up. :) Thanks for the fun.

Hey, Jan(!), I'm glad you participated....I think...?
Okay, I have succeeded. After two sleepless nights, I finally came up with my 6 weird points. It was really hard! But fun to do. Thanks for the fun. And thanks for all the others to show me that there are many weird people in blogland! ;-)
