A Few More Photos from Yesterday...

These are more photos from YESTERDAY...the kids didn't have a sled, then, and, like I mentioned earlier, what LOOKS like snow in these photos is actually about a two inch deep coating of solid ICE. The kids could chip chunks of it up, but it wasn't like they could scoop up handfuls of it or form it into snowballs or snowmen...they couldn't even make snow angels...though they laid down and tried! It was just solid ice that made walking tricky at times. So...what are kids suppose to do after a week in the house--housebound because of the ice?...well, they can always just hang around and climb trees! And that it precisely what they did once they got bored with slipping down the ice ramp!

TODAY, however, we had a SLED! Yeah!!! We haven't had a sled in all the kids' years. Doug had an inflatible tube ring for a while, but it had developed three significant (irrepairable) holes in it this year. Our WalMart sold out of sleds just before this last ice storm came through and I was kicking myself for having missed our chance once more to get one. But, last night on our way back from Oak Grove (where we had attended the farewell party for our guitar player and his family), we stopped at a different WalMart and found one batch of sleds still available! So, today, the kids and I had fun with the sled a good portion of the afternoon...until it began snowing so hard that we decided it was time to come in for hot cocoa! YUP!!!...now it is SNOWING hard and heavy. Of course it is sticking like crazy on the solid bed of ice. We are suppose to get at least three and a half inches by tomorrow...maybe more! I have a feeling Doug's vacation from school will continue when Monday rolls around! (He has been out of school for TEN DAYS now!!!) We do love our snow days!!!
