This Summer's Hummingbirds

Today, we met up with Laura and her kids, Caroline and Tommy in Springfield. We enjoyed a free movie and then went to Chuckie Cheese for a snack and to play the games. No one in our family (except Darcy) has ever been to a Chuckie Cheese. Laura's kids had saved up more than a hundred tokens (using coupons, doing summer reading projects, etc) and they shared their tokens with Darcy, Doug, and Rayna. Even Laura, Grant, and I played a few games! We were probably there more than an hour and put a dent in the tokens, but didn't use them up. Then we headed over to McDonald's to munch some more and let the kids play together in the tunnels.

Grant is healing nicely. Last Monday, after his post-op visit in Springfield, we ate out at Colten's Steak House. Grant enjoyed a very large, nicely charred steak topped with deep fried onion tanglers. Then, that evening, his folks took us out to eat here in Bolivar at El Rodeo. For the first time in over three months, Grant got to munch on the chips and salsa as we waited for our food. He is delighted to be able to eat anything he wants again, without repercussions.

This afternoon, I have been busy sorting through the photos from our Colorado vacation last month. We saw a lot of hummingbirds while we were up in the mountains. They are always a tempting subject to shoot pictures of!...

Stunning photos! And glad to hear that Grant can eat whatever he wants, especially when summer is all about barbecued steaks to me!
