Stepping Away for a Little While...

(I'm going to take a break from the blog and the computer in general for a bit.)

I hope every thing is okay.

I find the need to step away from the blog every now and then too.

We'll be here when you get back!

Everything is okay with me...I just am hitting burn-out/overwhelmingness at work and I feel like I am falling behind on things at home. And I find myself, once more, feeling ambivalent about my own motives in writing each day on this blog.

I had been intentionally posting daily or nearly daily on my blog since about October, but it just needs to go on the back burner for a bit while I get the rest of my life organized back out again and find balance with this blog, too!

My purpose for writing the blog has always been first and foremost to provide a record of my children's childhood to pass on to my children (sort of a baby book substitute), and secondly, to keep out of town relatives connected with the daily happenings in our lives. In spite of longstanding intentions, I have not yet gotten my more than 500 past posts printed out and bound in a spiral notebook that I can leaf through and pick out stories here and there to share with my kids and enjoy together. I would like to get started on preserving hard copies particularly of the posts that share stories about themselves that my kids will someday enjoy reading.

More than anything else, though, it is that the blog seems to take on a life of its own, as I realize people outside of the family are reading it and I begin to feel the pull to write in order to KEEP those readers! (Along the way nearly losing site of the reason I established the blog.) When I see that there are people beyond my immediate family who read the blog each day (currently an average of 60-70 unique visitors daily according to the site meter), I find myself coveting the future return of each of those readers and part of me starts feeling a deep, irresistible pull to write for the "audience". I need to re-establish my original purpose...so, breaking away from the blog for a while, is my way of trying to pull back and get my own heart back on track again and put in check my ambition!

Balance. I am seeking a better balance in my own heart.

I am glad nothing is really wrong. As much as I enjoy your blog and will miss it a lot, I admire your fortitude in doing this. You are one of the few women I think of in connection with Proverbs 31. Enjoy your break!
