Fourteenth Birthday
on the Fourth of July
Darcy got home from her week in Jackson, Tennessee (Fuge Camp) Friday evening (7/3). Jadyn came over soon after Darcy got home and spent the night and following day with her. A couple of other friends (Cora and Waldo) also joined her in the early afternoon of the Fourth of July to celebrate her birthday with her. They watched "Napoleon Dynamite" (edited), played games with a soccer ball outside, played Scattergories inside and feasted on Pizza and Watermelon. Since Darcy didn't want a birthday cake, we put her candles in one of the eight pizzas!
Grant, the kids and I gave her a lime green (her favorite color) tote bag filled with a four pack of green Monster Drinks (the energy drinks her teachers banned her from during the school year, but which she CRAVES!), lime green flip flops, lime green silly string, a lime green coin purse (with $40 inside), and a small air horn. The air horn was red and yellow, but she didn't hold its lack of greenness against it!
The Goldsmiths and Grant's parents came to visit, too. Later, we all went to SBU to explore the booths, enjoy the live music and watch the exceptional firework display. We didn't see much of Darcy at the fireworks display. She was too busy running around with her friends and checking out who else was there! She had a good fourteenth birthday.
