Scenes from Father's Day Weekend:
We went up to Kansas City the Saturday before Father's Day to visit Grant's Dad and my Dad. While we were at Grant's parents' home, Doug found some Hillbilly teeth to try out and Rayna gave her first ever public performance on the piano. It was an impromptu performance and I was impressed that Rayna had a piece memorized and played it effortlessly! She has impressed both Grant and I with her dedication to learning the piano. She practices every day--from ten minutes up to a half hour or longer WITHOUT ever being asked, reminded, or encouraged. She just takes it upon herself to practice! She has really been progressing quickly with her piano lessons. She has been eating it up!
Grant's parents had a poster of the previous four generations back (on Dad Cochran's side). With ENCOURAGEMENT Grant was coerced to hold it up with himself and Doug completing the line-up of six generations!
Darcy, well-trained child that she is(!), has learned the quickest way to get rid of her camera-ladened-mother is to just LOOK my way and SMILE the first time around...as demonstrated in the photo above as we loaded up in the car to go to the Chinese restaurant with Mom and Dad Cochran.
After eating at the Chinese Buffet, Grant and Lynne went to the home they had grown up in, hoping to get a peek inside. The current owners had been holding a garage sale earlier in the week and had invited Mom and Dad Cochran in to take a look around and then told them to tell their kids they were welcome to come by, too. Unfortunately, they weren't home when we went by. I took a photo of the front of the house, though, as well as a photo of one of the trees in the front yard that Grant remembers often climbing when he was a kid.
From there, we went to my parents' home. When we had called them up to tell my Dad we would like to take him out to eat, Darcy had interrupted with the suggestion that SHE could fix them supper, instead of going out. Dad liked that idea, so, when we got there, Darcy hopped to work cooking up a storm. Her fried pork chops and Baked Potato Soup were delicious! We washed it down with a wide variety of Juarritos pop.
Unfortunately, as our visit drew to an end, Grant was hit with a really bad gall bladder attack...his fifth in the last three months. We wound up stopping in at the Clinton hospital en route home. It was nearly 2:00am Father's Day before we finally pulled back into our own drive-way. Grant spent Father's Day under the weather. He is getting lined up for surgery, now.

That is about my favorite picture of our grandma in the poster Grant is holding up. I must say that Doug is looking more and more like a Cochran every day! lol
